Other areas that felt the impact include Quaidabad with three recorded quakes, and Korangi and Gadap with one quake each. While none of the earthquakes have been catastrophic in intensity, residents in these areas have reported feeling the tremors clearly due to the shallow depth of the seismic events.
The earthquakes recorded have ranged from mild to moderate on the Richter scale, but their frequency has raised concern among both citizens and experts. While the damage has so far been minimal, the anxiety among residents is growing as the tremors continue.
The Role of the Landhi Fault Line
According to Director of the National Tsunami Center, Amir Haider Laghari, the recent quakes are the result of energy release from the Landhi fault line. This underground fault has remained inactive for decades but has now become active again, prompting concern about the possibility of stronger earthquakes in the near future.
Laghari explained that the build-up of underground pressure over many years is now being released gradually, which is a good sign. He said this slow release of energy may reduce the chances of a large, sudden quake that could cause serious damage. اتوار سے شروع ہونے والی یہ زلزلہ خیزی بدھ تک جاری رہی۔ سب سے زیادہ 11 زلزلے ملیر میں، جبکہ 10 جھٹکے ڈی ایچ اے میں محسوس کیے گئے۔ اس کے علاوہ قائد آباد میں تین، جبکہ کورنگی اور گڈاپ میں ایک ایک زلزلہ ریکارڈ ہوا۔ اگرچہ زلزلے ہلکی سے معتدل شدت کے تھے، مگر ان کی گہرائی کم ہونے کی وجہ سے شہریوں نے انہیں واضح طور پر محسوس کیا۔
یہ تسلسل شہریوں میں خوف و ہراس پھیلا رہا ہے، خاص طور پر ان علاقوں میں جہاں جھٹکے بار بار محسوس کیے جا رہے ہیں۔
لانڈھی فالٹ لائن کا کردار
نیشنل سونامی سینٹر کے ڈائریکٹر امیر حیدر لغاری کے مطابق زلزلوں کی یہ لہر زیر زمین لانڈھی فالٹ لائن میں جمع ہونے والی توانائی کے اخراج کا نتیجہ ہے۔ یہ فالٹ لائن کئی دہائیوں تک غیر فعال رہی، لیکن اب دوبارہ متحرک ہو چکی ہے، جو زلزلے کی موجودہ صورتحال کی وجہ بنی ہے۔
ان کا کہنا ہے کہ توانائی کا آہستہ آہستہ اخراج ایک مثبت علامت ہے، کیونکہ اس سے بڑے زلزلے کے امکانات کم ہو جاتے ہیں۔

ماہرین نے حکومت سے مطالبہ کیا ہے کہ وہ پرانی اور کمزور عمارتوں کا فوری معائنہ کرائے، خاص طور پر صدر، لیاری اور ملیر جیسے علاقوں میں جہاں عمارتیں خستہ حال ہیں۔ معمولی زلزلے بھی کمزور عمارتوں کو نقصان پہنچا سکتے ہیں، اس لیے ان کا بروقت معائنہ ضروری ہے۔
کراچی کے لیے ایک وارننگ
حالیہ زلزلے ایک انتباہ ہیں کہ قدرتی آفات کسی بھی شہر میں آ سکتی ہیں۔ کراچی کو اب زلزلہ محفوظ شہر سمجھنا درست نہیں ہوگا۔ موجودہ صورتحال ہمیں یہ موقع فراہم کرتی ہے کہ ہم اپنی عمارتوں کو محفوظ بنائیں، عوام کو تربیت دیں اور ہنگامی حالات کے لیے تیاری کریں۔
