For many of these patients, traveling to India was not a political choice—it was a medical necessity. With advanced facilities in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore, India has long been a preferred destination for Pakistani patients suffering from critical illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, and kidney failure. Many come with medical visas and recommendations from both Indian and Pakistani doctors. However, upon arrival, they were informed that their appointments were canceled and they must return immediately. Some had been waiting for months to secure their treatment slots, while others had already paid advance fees.
Political Hostility Replacing Compassion
This move appears to be a direct consequence of escalating political tensions. Diplomatic relationships between the two nations have hit a low point, and the fallout is now affecting the most vulnerable. Critics argue that India, which has prided itself on being a humanitarian leader in South Asia, is now violating the very principle of compassion by denying medical care to innocent civilians who have nothing to do with politics.
Patients Left in Limbo
The scenes at Indian hospitals and border crossings have been heart-wrenching. Elderly patients in wheelchairs, children with cancer, and women in fragile health stood in queues, only to be told to leave without treatment. Some patients reported being treated rudely, while others said that Indian authorities offered no explanation beyond “orders from above.” These individuals, already battling physical pain, now carry the emotional trauma of being rejected when they needed help the most.
International Reactions and Condemnations
Pakistan’s Foreign Office has strongly condemned the act, calling it a “gross violation of international humanitarian principles.” Human rights organizations across the globe have raised concerns, urging India to separate politics from humanitarian issues. They emphasize that healthcare is a basic human right and should not be weaponized during political standoffs.

سیاست نے ہمدردی کو کچل ڈالا

لاچار مریضوں کی تکلیف دہ صورتحال
سرحد اور اسپتالوں کے باہر کے مناظر دل دہلا دینے والے تھے۔ وہ بچے جنہیں کینسر ہے، ضعیف افراد، خواتین، سب ہی مایوسی کے عالم میں واپس لوٹنے پر مجبور ہو گئے۔ کچھ مریضوں نے بتایا کہ انہیں سخت رویے کا سامنا کرنا پڑا جبکہ کچھ کو یہ بھی نہیں بتایا گیا کہ ان کے علاج سے انکار کیوں کیا جا رہا ہے۔
عالمی سطح پر ردعمل
پاکستان نے اس اقدام کی شدید مذمت کی ہے اور اسے بین الاقوامی انسانی اصولوں کی خلاف ورزی قرار دیا ہے۔ انسانی حقوق کی تنظیمیں بھی اس عمل پر آواز اٹھا رہی ہیں اور دونوں ممالک سے مطالبہ کر رہی ہیں کہ سیاست کو انسانیت پر غالب نہ آنے دیں۔ علاج ایک بنیادی انسانی حق ہے جسے کسی بھی صورت میں روکا نہیں جانا چاہیے۔
انسانیت کی پکار
یہ وقت ہے کہ دونوں ممالک جذباتی فیصلوں کی بجائے انسانی اقدار کو ترجیح دیں۔ کسی بھی سیاسی تنازعہ کے باوجود، بیمار اور مجبور افراد کے لیے دروازے بند کرنا ایک غیر اخلاقی عمل ہے۔ دنیا کو یہ یاد رکھنا چاہیے کہ ایک ماں کے آنسو، ایک بچے کی چیخ اور ایک ضعیف کی بے بسی، کسی بھی سرحد سے زیادہ اہم ہے۔
امید کی جاتی ہے کہ دونوں ممالک جلد از جلد ایک ایسا انسانی راستہ کھولیں گے جو ہر حال میں مریضوں کو سہارا دے، نہ کہ انہیں ٹھکرا دے۔
